History and goals
Together we inspire the future generation of STEM leaders!
Our partnership began in our headquarters in Brussels over 5 years ago and it has grown exponentially year after year.
In collaboration with amazing Cisco professional role-models, we hosted events in Amman, Krakow, Barcelona, Goa, Belgrade, Brussels, Seville and Madrid!
This collaboration works so well because g4g makes it easy for Cisco to get involved with existing events and/or launch events in new cities across the globe! Our partnership covers three different pillars with Cisco by 1) promoting STEM education, 2) advocating gender diversity and 3) giving back to the community & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Cisco's main goal is to excite the future generation around Cisco technology & innovation - read a blog from Cisco's Global Greenlight for Girls contact, Aurelia Takacs, to learn more from the Cisco Learning Network! We want to achieve this by hosting hands-on, interactive events & workshops all over the world & by demonstrating just how fun a future in technology can be.
Considering the huge success of Cisco's custom-made, hands-on workshops hosted at our annual event - g4g Day@Brussels - we took our collaboration to the next level and introduced a new global concept: g4g@work led by Aurelia Takacs and an incredible team of role models in Cisco Belgium! Our past events with Cisco
g4g Day @Andalucia - Dec. 2019
In December, we did something we had never done before: 1 g4g Day in 8 cities at the same time! When Cisco approached us with this crazy idea we loved it immediately; reaching out to 1000 girls in 8 cities of the beautiful Andalucía? Tell us no more, we are in! So, on December 14, we hosted events in Almeria, Cordoba, Huelva, Granada, Jaen, Malaga, Cádiz and Sevilla…
In September, along with 10 partners, we hosted our 5th g4g Day @Krakow at the Cisco offices in Krakow. 150 young and amazing girls joined us and dived into cybersecurity, programming, chemistry, robotics, engineering, coding, and so much more!
We were thrilled to host our new g4g Day @Mexico with @CiscoLatinoamerica ! 170 girls came along, and helped by 70 wonderful volunteers, we animated 10 fun and interactive STEM workshops.The most beautiful part of the d ay was definitely witnessing the support and help girls gave to each other during the mandala yoga. g4g Day @Barcelona - Oct. 2018
In October, we hosted our 2nd g4g Day @Barcelona with the wonderful team of Cisco Spain. 200 girls and discovered all the fun in science thanks to interactive original workshops led by dozens of motivated partners and volunteers.
On Sept. 22 2018, we were thrilled to be back to Cisco in Krakow, Poland, for the 4th g4g Day @Krakow! Thanks to the amazing partners and sponsors, it’s 16 workshops that the 165 girls could experience through the day! Full photos album to come very soon!
g4g@work in Brussel - Mar. 2018
Once again, we teamed up with Cisco for a g4g@work day, linked to International Womens Day where Cisco professionals and Women of Impact guided the girls with hands-on learning, training, and mentoring.
Together with Cisco, 170 girls spent the day at Instituto de Salud Carlos III, engaging in hands-on workshops on all aspects of STEM, especially the cutting-edge innovations Cisco is known for!
In 2017, in partnership with the fabulous Cisco team, Akamai, AGH, Sabre and Nokia, we hosted the 3rd annual g4g Day @Krakow event in Poland! These 200 girls came from the local community to experience another spectacular year of innovative technology, cool hands-on science workshops, creativity and much more.
g4g @work in Brussels - May 2017
We welcomed 40 young, ambitious girls for an amazing, fun-filled day! They got to explore electronics, learned about Mars in a workshop inspired by the movie “The Martian” and got to learn from inspiring Cisco role-models, having the opportunity to ask them questions in a Speed Mentoring session. Together with Cisco, the City of Sevilla, and the Regional Government of Andalucia, 150-175 girls spent the day at CREA Innovation Center, discovering the unbelievable fun in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math! Take a look at the photo album of the event here.
It is with an incredible energy that we hosted our 2nd annual #g4gDayKrakow event in partnership with a great team from Cisco Kraków! We opened doors to an incredible group of 200 local greenlight girls and hosted 18 hands-on workshops. View the full album here
g4g @work Cisco Belgrade - May 2016
Yay to the first ever g4g and Cisco event in Belgrade, Serbia! In May, we’ve launched the g4g @work concept in the Cisco offices in Belgrade. With three afternoons of interactive and fun technology workshops, the team invited 60 girls aged 11-15 from three different neighboring cities: Belgrade, Novi Sad and Novi Pazar!
On May 7th, 2016 we had a spectacular launch! The first ever greenlight for girls day in Spain in the charming city of Barcelona with CISCO and La Salle University brought together 160 girls from 70 different school, 80 volunteers and 13 organisations for one common cause: to demonstrate just how fun Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics can be! The event was held on the 7th of May at La Salle Campus Barcelona. Check out our photos album here!
g4g @work in Brussels - Apr. 2016
On April 27th, g4g collaborated with Cisco BeLux to invite 30 girls from the local community for Cisco’s Global Girls in ICT Day. The girls experienced three fun and hands-on tech-driven workshops and in the end of the day, they became Cisco Certified Future Engineers (CCFE)! Click here for the full photo album!
g4g @work in Brussels - Apr. 2015
On the 1st of April, g4g and Cisco invited 34 girls to the Cisco premises, giving them the opportunity to become Cisco Certified Future Engineers! Meet our partnership lead
Aurelia is on our advisory board for corporate partnerships and is our diversity & inclusion expert, global Cisco contact, AND Project Manager for g4g in Amman, Krakow & now Barcelona! She’s piloted our‘g4g@work’ concept w/ Cisco, which we will use with other companies around the world! As a “world citizen” in Brussels, she loves kitchen science and watching "The IT Crowd"! She hopes to inspire the next generation of female STEM leaders around the world! All about her launch in Jordan here!
