We are thrilled to have brought our g4g@work concept to Croydon, United Kingdom, with our global partner AIG, a leading global insurance company!
A special group of 60 girls aged spent the day at the Croydon AIG office engaged in hands-on and interactive workshops, learning all about cutting edge virtual reality, programming code, statistics with chocolate, extracting your own DNA with household materials - and so much more! They had the chance to be mentored by role model professionals while getting a glimpse into the everyday life of inspiring technicians and engineers.

What? We welcomed 50 girls aged 11-15 to a g4g@work day event of interactive, hands-on, unbelievable fun in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics!
How? We invited role model professionals to lead 45 minute workshops that show the link to STEM, with 10 - 12 girls in one workshop. Girls will have a chance to experience 4 workshops throughout the day.

g4g@work at AIG in Dublin
On May 23, 2017 the North Wall Quay office opened its doors to 80 enthusiastic girls aged 11-15 from across 25 Dublin GAA clubs as they geared up for a full day of workshops! Girls explored physics with plasma balls, calculated the speed of light with chocolate, "charged" up their very own fruit battery, tasted the sweet sides of statistics with M&Ms - and with an exciting visit from the Dublin GAA ladies to explore the science behind sports!

The sessions included experiencing cutting-edge technology behind the HAKA 360 Virtual Reality (including an intro from star All Blacks Rugby player Aaron Cruden), A Prize for Safety where the girls try on safety equipment and learn about the importance of a warm-up, guessing what's inside your 'exercise smoothie' during the nutrition break - Power from what you Eat, and finally interactively learning - Can Physics Help your Game? led by the g4g team!

Melissa Rancourt,Chairman and Founder. Melissa is an engineer herself and loves the Big Bang TV show, so much so that she does a workshop based on it which has proved to be one of the favourites of the girls. Melissa is a true science geek and doesn't mind who knows this! Her story is our story so check it out here!

Jelena Lucin is our Project Manager & Science Advisor in Brussels HQ. From global communications & event coordinating, she manages various g4g internal projects, creates science workshops, supervises our lovely young interns and ambassadors and loves to lead the DNA workshop across the globe!
